Fluorescein angiography

A diagnostic method to examine the retinal blood circulation. The method is used in the diagnosis of retinal vascular diseases such as for instance diabetic retinopathy, retinal artery and vein occlusion, inherited or acquired retinal degenerative diseases, intraocular tumors. We perform fluorescein angiography by the newest hi-tech platform called Spectralis HRA (Heidelberg Engineering, Germany).

B scan ocular ultrasound

Ocular ultrasound scan of the posterior segment of the eye (ie. the retina and the vitreous). We possess a technically highly advanced device of the last generation from OTI company. The ultrasound examination is necessary for showing the posterior segment of the eye when optical media transparency is damaged – bleeding into the vitreous, inflammatory clouding of the vitreous, cataract, clouding of the cornea. The ultrasound examination has a great advantage and benefit for diagnostics of intraocular tumors. Thanks to a high-quality software it is possible to record and archive individual sequences of the examination.

Spectral optical coherence tomography (SOCT)

The most recent laser method for assesing the retinal structure with high resolution of 3µm in the form of an “optical section“. The procedure is fast, non-contact and there is no need to extend the eye pupils. SOCT is mainly used in macular disorders – age related macular degeneration, macular edema of various etiology, macular hole, epimacular membranes. SOCT examination may be repeated and thus monitor anatomical changes in the macula in time. Our clinic owns one of the latest SOCT devices – Heidelberg Spectralis OCT in combination with conofocal scanning laser angiography platform Spectralis HRA.

Indocyanine green angiography

A diagnostic method for monitoring the choroid circulation disorders. Mostly used in the examination of wet forms of age related macular degeneration.

Fundus autofluorescence

An examination method which discovers the degree of the accumulation of lipofuscin in the retinal pigment epihtelium. Lipofuscin is a pigment occuring at high level in the retina of eyes with age related macular degeneration, and in many other retinal degenerative disorders. For fundus autofluorescence we use hi-tech conofocal scanning laser ophthalmoscopy of the Spectralis HRA platform.

Laser treatment method

VALON micropulse diode multispot laser

The latest laser system for the treatment of retina allowing the application of 25 laser spots all at once in the form of different matrices (grids). The greatest advantage of the laser is the gentleness of micropulse spots and the speed of the treatment which allows treating a large retinal area within one session. Thanks to the uniform distribution of laser energy, the choroid and inner layers of the retina an exposed to exactly proper laser energy.
