Central Europe’s First Implantation of the enVista ENVY Trifocal Lens
The last week of January at the Gemini Eye Clinic in Zlín was marked by innovation. Dr. Pavel Stodůlka became the first surgeon in Central Europe to implant the new enVista ENVY premium trifocal intraocular lens.
Bausch+Lomb, a leading global manufacturer of intraocular lenses, recently introduced the enVista ENVY trifocal lens, which utilizes unique ActivSync Optic technology. This technology provides patients with enhanced contrast and light distribution, ensuring excellent vision in all lighting conditions with minimal visual disturbances. The first recipient of this lens in Central Europe was a 59-year-old patient from Šumperk, who underwent the procedure performed by Dr. Pavel Stodůlka at the Zlín clinic.
The Role of Intraocular Lenses Intraocular lenses (IOLs) are an essential part of every cataract surgery or Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE). During these procedures, an experienced surgeon removes the patient’s original cloudy lens and replaces it with an artificial one inside the eye.
Cataracts in the Czech Republic Up to half a million people in the Czech Republic suffer from cataracts. Among patients over the age of 60, this eye condition affects every second person. Between the ages of 75 and 85, cataracts affect 90 percent of the population.
